An entrepreneurial technology strategist and business leader with a successful track record of identifying, founding, and building multiple new medical ventures with substantial return on investment.

Strong entrepreneurial leader; as co-founder and/or CEO of multiple medical start-up companies including medical imaging company Sensant Corp, successfully acquired and integrated with Siemens Healthcare; critical care company SonarMed; and optical diagnostics startup American BioOptics with a successful sale of certain assets to a global medical device company.

Worked with the company's founding team and early investors to develop the company's strategic plan and initial financing. Developed the company's clinical, regulatory, reimbursement & market strategy for successful FDA 510(k) and CE clearances and new CPT coding. Raised the company's Series A financing from venture capital and secured over $4M of additional funding from the National Institutes of Health. Oversee development, clinical, and regulatory activities.

American BioOptics (ABO) is a medical device company developing optical technologies to screen for colorectal cancer. 

Co-founded and led the formation of company. Developed financing strategy for multi-million dollar non-dilutive investment for a novel colon cancer screening test. Oversaw successful product development that was under budget and on time including a 100-patient clinical trial at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. Recruited management team in product development and regulatory affairs that led successful CE marking of the optical screening product in Europe and ISO13485 certification. Negotiated successful sale of a significant portion of the company to a global medical device company.

SonarMed is a critical care medical device company that manufactures respiratory monitoring devices.

Supported the founding team and defined the initial business strategy and financing that included a $2.5M in State and NIH grant funding. Implemented a highly capital-efficient product development model that outsourced non-core activities. Developed market positioning strategy for respiratory product in intensive care application and recruited a prominent medical advisory board and clinical trial sites.

General Management and Financial responsibilities included the development and execution of corporate strategy including finance, market, investment, personnel and manufacturing plans. 

Marketing and Business Development responsibilities included the establishment of multi-year strategic partnerships with leading companies including GE, Siemens, J&J, Boston Scientific, Hitachi, and Toshiba as well as the definition of technology roadmap and detailed market analysis for the company and its products.

Sensant Corp was successfully acquired by Siemens Healthcare in June 2005.

Device Engineer

Managed manufacturing of $70M of specialty and high-voltage semiconductor products for the automotive, personal computer, and aerospace industries. Led quality improvement, manufacturing optimization, new process development, and six-sigma manufacturing planning for the line of semiconductor products.

Participated in Motorola's highly selective Engineering Rotation Program with experience in semiconductor design and process development, RF circuit design, product management, and high volume manufacturing.
