Morgan Nields received a B.A. degree from Williams College (1968) and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, Tuck Scholar (1970).
From 1973 to 1983, Mr. Nields was President and Chief Executive Officer of Fischer Imaging Corporation.(NASDAQ) From August 1983 until April 1984, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Diasonics, Inc.(NYSE) Following the rescission of the Diasonics/Fischer merger, Mr. Nields returned as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fischer Imaging, stepping down as CEO in 2000.
Fischer Imaging Corporation designed, manufactured and marketed specialty and general-purpose x-ray imaging systems for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Company's principal product lines focused on breast cancer imaging and were directed toward medical specialties in which image-guided, minimally-invasive clinical interventions are replacing open surgical procedures.
On December 31, 2003, Mr. Nields resigned as Chairman of Fischer Imaging to pursue the development of INTIO Inc, a venture backed, development stage company where he is President & CEO. INTIO INTIO is developing 3D visualization software for use in planning, targeting, monitoring, and assessing the results of CT guided interventional oncologic procedures. This software enables the percutaneous treatment of solid tumors including cancers of the liver, kidney, lung, bone, and breast. In addition a major application is emerging for the measurement of tumor response assessment in oncology drug trials.
In 2007 Mr Nields purchased the assets of Fischer Imaging and created a new company, Fischer Medical Technologies INC FMTI where he is Chairman and CEO. Fischer Medical is focused on the development of emerging cone beam CT applications for interventional oncology applications with an emphasis on diagnosing and treating early breast cancer.
Mr. Nields is a former member of the Board of Governors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) a $120B trade association. NEMA - National Electrical Manufacturers Association He has been a board member of publically traded companies Columbia HCA (now HCA) (NYSE), Smith Laboratories (NASDAQ), Fischer Imaging, (NASDAQ) and Diasonics Inc.(NYSE) and currently serves on several private corporate boards. He is a board member and Treasurer of AdMeTech, a not for profit organization dedicated to funding translational imaging research for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. AdMeTech - Home.
